We recently hosted our very first environmental conference with a theme of environmental sustainability in business at Twickenham Stadium. The conference was very well received with large blue chip companies in attendance such as Veolia, Thames Waters, Tesco and Skanska.
Celebrating the Milestone
NBC Environment was founded by our Managing Director John Dickson with a Princes Trust Grant in 1993. This year we are celebrating our 25th anniversary. We wanted to host a conference to raise funds for the Princes Trust, to help give other businesses the opportunity to have the same support NBC received.
Promoting Environmental Sustainability in Business
The conference was not only to celebrate our 25th anniversary but to highlight the responsibilities that business’ have to create a sustainable strategy for the environment & ensuring that they are compliant with environmental law.
We covered topics such as; Brexit and how it may affect environmental laws, the use of drones in bird management and environmental planning, the importance of environmental sustainability in business and many more.
The Conference
The Speakers
We welcomed delegates from a variety of industries including construction, aviation, utilities, facilities, waste management, highways and rail.
The day was full of inspirational speakers including Simon King, Penny Simpson, Andy Baxter, Mike Boniface, Blackdown Environmental and speakers from Veolia UK, Thames Water and the Princes Trust.
The Exhibitors
We had some amazing exhibitors join us on the day, offering a range of products and services. The exhibitors included: PestFix, EHM, Bridgman & Bridgman, Conservation Dogs, BPCA and Hydro-App.
The Demonstrations
We also included an incredible live falconry and Rofalcon display. Wingbeat began the demonstrations with their Rofalcon and performed a breathtaking display. Below you can see the footage captured showing Remy, Chief Technician, flying the Rofalcon around Twickenham Stadium.
It was then time for our live falconry display. Our local falconer, Martin Paine, came along with Jet and Judge to demonstrate exactly what the birds do day-to-day. We currently use falconry to deter nuisance birds at Twickenham Stadium on a regular basis.
Conclusion
We felt this was the perfect way to celebrate our 25 years in business and raise awareness of environmental sustainability, the legal responsibilities and highlight the innovative options available to businesses across a wide number of industries while raising money for an amazing charity, the Princes Trust.
